World’s top 200 contractors ranked

The world’s top 200 contractors according to sales figures for 2020 have been revealed in the latest issue of International Construction magazine.

As was the case last year, Chinese companies continue to dominate the upper levels of the list and occupy all top five positions. The number one contractor on the list remains China State Construction & Engineering (CSCEC) with the company seeing sales increase from US$203 billion to US$220 billion.

The top four contractors in the list are in the same position as last year but Metallurgical Corporation of China has pushed its way into number five at the expensive of Vinci, with the France-based contractor falling to number six.

Spain-based ACS remain in seventh position with sales falling from US$43 billion to US$39 billion followed by Bouygues’ Construction and China-based Shanghai Construction Group rounding out the top ten.

The sales figures were taken from 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic led to lockdowns in large parts of the world.
