The countdown is on for the next Conexpo-Con/Agg trade fair, to be held 14 to 18 March 2023, at Las Vegas Convention Center, US.

The largest construction trade show in North America, Conexpo-Con/Agg is positioned to stage a post-pandemic comeback in 2023, with the previous edition of the triennial event in 2020 taking place amid early Covid-19 disruptions.

Government and corporate travel restrictions have either been reduced or eliminated since the 2020 show, and next year’s Conexpo-Con/Agg is preparing to receive 1,800 exhibitors, who will be housed in 250,000 square metres of space.

The event is North America’s leading showcase for construction equipment, representing 24 product categories across asphalt, aggregates, concrete, earthmoving, lifting, mining, utilities and more.

Key OEMs included in the extensive list of confirmed exhibitors for 2023 include Bobcat, Bomag, Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas, Kobelco, Komatsu, Liebherr, Wacker Neuson, Willscot Mobile Mini and Wirtgen.

Educational events

Alongside OEMs’ product releases and innovations, Conexpo-Con/Agg will feature a program of demonstrations and educational events, centred on growing construction businesses.

“The biggest value in making the trip to Vegas to come to Conexpo-Con/Agg is learning, and I don’t mean just learning about the latest and greatest equipment on display,” says Conexpo-Con/Agg Show Director Dana Wuesthoff.

“The education offerings at Conexpo-Con/Agg have always stood out for their focus on helping construction professionals build both their skillsets and their overall businesses acumen.”

This year’s courses include:

Why Gen Z Eats Sustainability for Breakfast

“Never before in the history of mankind have there been five different generations of individuals active in the labour pool,” says a statement on the Conexpo-Con/Agg website. “Gen Z, the newest generation entering the workforce, are more environmentally conscious than their predecessors and want to work for companies making a positive impact on the world.

“Learn what it takes to motivate these younger workers, and how construction companies can leverage new and existing sustainability initiatives to attract them into your talent pool.”

Be That One Guy

“Not working to bring women onto the team excludes more than half the available talent pool from hiring efforts. However, the Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) says their data shows 41 percent of women in the construction trades have thought about leaving the construction industry because of bullying, harassment, and intimidation.

“This session shows construction professionals, especially business owners and leaders, what they can do to change the culture on their job sites.”

Building Blocks of an Effective Equipment Budget

“Even small pieces of construction equipment can be a significant capital expense. This session asks attendees if they are getting the best use out of that equipment, and how to generate the data to prove it, focusing on processes, inputs, and workflows.”

International interest

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), which puts on ConExpo-Con/Agg, expects a large international visitor presence at Las Vegas Convention Center in March 2023.

AEM has confirmed that the largest groups of international registrations so far are from Canada, Australia, the UK, Mexico and New Zealand.
