Volvo Rents buys company in Salt Lake City

13 June 2011

Volvo Rents has acquired Sampson Equipment Company, a three location equipment rental company based in the Salt Lake City area of Utah, with stores in Murray, Ogden, and Draper.

The acquisition is part of Volvo Rents' new strategy in North America to operate both franchise rental locations and its own company stores.

Under that strategy Volvo Rents - which is now an independent subsidiary of Volvo, separate from the Volvo Construction Equipment business - may buy rental businesses like Sampson or acquire existing franchise holders who do not have sufficient capital to expand.

"Becoming a part of Volvo Rents was an attractive decision for my family and my employees," said Lance Sampson, owner of Sampson Equipment Company.

"Volvo Rents provides us with the resources to expand, and allows us to align our culture with a trustworthy brand that is known for their commitment to their employees and their customers."

Mike Crouch, vice president, business development at Volvo Rents, who is responsible for managing the acquisitions of rental businesses in North America, said; "Sampson Equipment's culture of local decision-making has enabled the Sampson family to assemble an excellent team that is fully committed to customer care.

"The Sampsons will serve a significant role in the expansion of Volvo Rents in the state of Utah."
