Vital orders big BESS units for rental

UK power rental company Vital Power Group has ordered five MAX500 battery energy storage systems (BESS) from UK supplier Allye Energy.

The MX500 units provide 500kWh/420kW of power and will be deployed by Vital to customer sites in construction. They will be used to charge electric construction equipment and vehicles where grid constraints and site logistics make traditional fixed charging impractical.

The deal, which is the largest order yet for Allye, follows the three-year distribution agreement signed with Vital Group in October.

The MAX500 is the first system in Allye’s range to have DC fast recharging, enabling replenishment from 20% to 80% capacity in approximately one hour.

Allye said this will “transform” the BESS market “by enabling systems to recharge from any public DC fast charger or, critically for large-scale projects, to recharge each other in the field.”

Vital said it will support customers by providing service level agreements as short as 4-hours and 24/7/365 emergency support.

‘Watershed moment’ for Allye

Allye’s BESS range now encompasses models, the MAX300 (300kWh, 280kW), the MAX500 (500kWh, 420kW), MAX1000 (1MWh, 840kW), and MAX1500 (1.5MWh, 1.25MW).
