Construction equipment Sales for construction equipment remained high in 2022

The amount of money generated by the world’s top 50 construction OEMs in International Construction’s Yellow Table has been revealed to be US$230.6 billion, one of the highest figures ever recorded in the listing.

A large reason for this growth is the performance of manufacturers based in the US. OEMs based in the US accounted for over 26% of the total revenue of the Yellow Table, up from 21% in the last listing.

China-based OEMs saw their percentage of total venue fall to 18%. The drop is not surprising – when equipment sales declined in most of the world due to the impact of the pandemic, they actually rose in China in 2020 and remained high in 2021 due to stimulus spending. However, the drying up of this, aligned with the country’s zero-Covid policy hampered business in 2022.

The total revenue generated by the world’s top 50 OEMs of US$230.6 billion is just 0.4% less than last year’s US$232.7 billion, which was the largest ever amount recorded on the Yellow Table, indicating how strong a year 2022 was for the construction industry.

Regarding the world’s top ten OEMs, there is some movement. There is one new entry into the top ten from last year and five of the other manufacturers in the top ten either saw their rankings increase or fall. There is one new entry into the Yellow Table from last year.

The full Yellow Table of the world’s biggest construction manufacturers will be published in the May-June issue of International Construction magazine. Previous editions of the Yellow Table can be viewed for free in the issue archive
