UK trade body gives timeline on Chinese MEWP dumping study

The UK trade body investigating possible dumping of self-propelled booms by Chinese suppliers said it expected to issue a provisional decision by July, with the final recommendation published in January next year.

The Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) initiated the investigation into Chinese imports in late December 2025 following an application by UK manufacturer Niftylift.

In addition to the July and January publication dates, TRA said it would publish a “statement of essential facts” in October. TRA said the timeline was indicative and not final.

Several OEMs, including Niftylift and Dingli, requested an extension to the March deadline for submissions, and these were granted by the TRA.

The application by Niftylift alleged subsidies and dumping of platforms in the UK by Chinese suppliers and covers self-propelled telescopic and articulated booms, including tracked models. It excludes scissor lifts, truck mounted lifts and vertical mast platforms.

The application, published on the TRA website with confidential material excluded, claimed that rental companies in the UK are buying Chinese booms at least 10% to 30% cheaper than established manufacturers.
