Representing the company’s largest machine investment to date, the decision to go with the compact-radius HX235LCR was heavily influenced by True Plant operator Jack Asher. He said, “We had a demonstrator HX220L from our local dealer TBS Plant and I just loved everything about it to be fair. Hyundai has vastly improved the joysticks on the HX models.”

Asher added, “I’m very impressed with this machine, it’s got plenty of power in the dig.”

First launched in 2016 and tipping the scales at 24 tonnes, the HX235LCR is powered by a Tier 4 Final emissions compliant six-cylinder Cummins QSB6.7 diesel engine, which offers a power output of 136kW at 1,950rpm.

True Plant’s machine is fitted with the standard mono boom and dipper arm combination offering a maximum digging depth of 6,700mm and a maximum reach at ground level of 9,910mm. The machine features an X-frame style track frame. Sitting on 700mm track pads the track length is 4,404mm with an overall width of 3,090mm and features nine bottom rollers and two upper carrier rollers.

Hyundai’s improved hydraulic system also includes a Boom Float mode for better grading control, Fine Swing mode for improved load control when swinging, and up to 13% faster cycle speeds compared to previous models.
