Texas First Rentals celebrates milestone

Texas First Rentals is marking its 10th anniversary this year with celebrations across its operations.

According to Texas First, the milestone reflects what it describes as a decade of strategic growth, driven by a “customer-first approach, technological investment, and a commitment to service excellence.”

The company was founded in 2015 by Holt Cat, the Texas-headquartered Caterpillar dealer, as a provider of Caterpillar equipment to the rental market.

According to Holt, it created the company as it saw a gap in the market and a major shift towards large equity firms acquiring equipment rental companies.

Since then it has seen a significant amount of growth, opening seven stores in seven months not long after being founded.

As of 2025, it has over 35 locations across Texas, employs approximately 750 staff and operates a fleet of over 26,000 machines ranging from generators to excavators.

It has also been relatively active in the mergers and acquisitions space, acquiring Class A Rentals in Fredericksburg in 2022 and Rental One in 2023, which it said positioned it as the largest privately owned equipment rental company in Texas.

Don Myrick, senior vice president and general manager of Texas First Rentals, said, “Ten years ago, we set out to build a rental company defined by urgency, exceptional service, and a strong organizational culture.

“With the support of HOLT CAT’s stability, clear strategic vision, and values-driven leadership, we were able to scale rapidly and assemble a high-performing team.

“Our deliberate approach to strategic acquisitions enabled us to expand our footprint, diversify our customer base, and accelerate growth across Texas.”

Looking ahead, Myrick said that while the company plans to remain rooted in rental, “there are opportunities for growth into other segments, and we see a bright future for Texas First Rentals.”
