Tadano appoints Americas MEWP business manager

Growing on the recent introduction of its mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) line in North America, aerial platform and cranes manufacturer Tadano has announced industry veteran Tyler Brown as its MEWP national business manager.

Brown has an almost 25 year background in aerial platforms, construction equipment and rental through previous roles with JCB North America, Genie and Acme Lift Co.

The company announced its intentions to enter the North American aerial platform market at Bauma last year.

Erik Elzinga, Tadano America vice president of AWP business development for Pan-America operations, said; “We followed through on this commitment for our customers and now have machines operating and available in North America.

“The addition of Tyler, who offers a wealth of experience in the AWP market, is a key next step in expanding customer support for this business.”

Brown will lead the North American sales team in introducing the Tadano MEWP line to customers. 

Brown said it was an “extreme privilege” to join Tadano; “Leveraging Tadano’s market-leading expertise in the crane market, our innovative [MEWP] line will provide customers with market-leading products that have no equal.”

The manufacturer said the launch of Tadano’s MEWP products in the U.S. and Canada was a direct result of its acquisitions of Nagano Industry – the Japanese manufacturer of self-propelled crawler boom lifts – and most recently, Manitex International. It said combining Tadano’s lifting expertise with these two acquisitions has given it an extensive range of boom lifts. 

At ConExpo in Las Vegas, Tadano will exhibit the MEWPs available in North America, including diesel and electric self-propelled tracked and wheeled models with platform heights reaching 67ft, 7in (20.9 m).

This will include the new AS-63HD, which will make its North American show debut. It is a heavy-duty telescopic boom lift with a 2,200lb (1t) platform capacity; a platform height reaching 62ft 8in (19.1 m) and maximum horizontal reach of 37ft, 4in (11.4 m).
