Swiss project uses only emission-free construction equipment

Bettmeralp, a 3km mountain bike trail park in the Swiss Aletsch Arena, is being developed with emission-free construction equipment and machines by Wacker Neuson and implemented by Velosolutions.

The construction work was carried out with electric machines, and an electric-powered truck.

Two Wacker Neuson Zero Tail excavators EZ17e were used for excavation work whilst a track dumper DT10e was used for transporting material.

The low location of the batteries makes it particularly stable and is especially useful in the rough terrain of the Alps, said Wacker Neuson.

For soil compaction, two battery-powered vibratory plates APS1135e were used. The large crane yoke, built for stability and steering sideways, was chosen for its suitability for constructing a trail on a slope.

“The emission-free construction machines and equipment by Wacker Neuson are an ideal fit for the Bettmeralp concept: no combustion engines,” said Patric Stillhart, sales manager for Wacker Neuson Switzerland.

Stillhart added, “A trail park can be developed in the middle of nature without causing exhaust emissions.”
