Sunbelt Rentals UK and Ireland has invested more than £1.2 million (€1.3 million) on expanding its fleet of eco-friendly welfare vans in the last year, the company has announced.

Describing it as a “significant investment”, the company said it added 40 custom tailored welfare vans that can be powered and heated directly with HVO fuel.

The fleet reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90% and enable access to low emission zones across the UK, the company said.

Available in six, seven or eight seat options, the vans were developed alongside its partner and are “fully equipped” and “meticulously maintained and furnished” with kitchen and bathroom facilities, comfortable seating and plenty of workspace.

Flexible hire options are also available, enabling customers to choose the length of the hire period to suit requirements.

Chris Hanley, service centre manager, Sunbelt Rentals UK and Ireland said, “We’re thrilled to release our new fleet of eco-friendly welfare vans to the industry. They will be fully equipped with technology to reduce carbon footprint while still ensuring they’re fully equipped and comfortable for our customers.”

The company added that the investment is part of its commitment to reduce the environmental footprint of its customers through the Our Planet, Sustainable Action Plan, which seeks to “drive positive change across the rental industry.”
