Stephenson’s Rental Services Inc. has invested in Centre de Location GM Inc., a Québec-based equipment rental company with four branches. The investment - described as a “strategic alliance” by the two companies - marks the first step for Stephenson’s in its plan to expand in the province of Québec.

Location GM’s Alexandre Cantin, shareholder and CEO, and Jean-François Cantin, shareholder and CFO, will continue in their respective roles and retain a significant holding in Location GM. Company branches in Québec will continue to be operated under the Location GM brand.

Stephenson’s, which is headquartered in Mississauga near Toronto, has 43 locations in Ontario and Alberta. It also operates a number of in-store rental locations at Lowe’s home improvement centers in Ontario and Alberta.

“The investment in Location GM is an important step in the expansion plans of Stephenson’s in the province of Québec,” said Guy Manuel, CEO of Stephenson’s.

It immediately provides a strong foothold in the province and represents a great platform to further expand our activity in Québec.”

He said Alexandre Cantin and Jean-François Cantin were the right partners in Québec and added; “being born and raised in Québec City, this investment has the feeling of coming home. We welcome all the Location GM employees and all Stephenson’s employees into our expanded family.”

Alexandre Cantin and Jean-François Cantin said; “This transaction allows us to continue to serve our current clients while at the same time accelerating our growth across Québec through having access to significantly more capital and best in class technology.

“It also represents a great opportunity for our employees to be part of our exciting growth plans. We are extremely pleased to work with our new colleagues at Stephenson’s to significantly grow Location GM’s presence in Québec.”
