Star Invests in JLG/Power Tower units for data centres

Star Platforms has expanded its specialist fleet with the introduction of the JLG Nano 30CS and Power Tower CS, two compact low level access platforms developed for work in restricted indoor environments.

As data centre construction projects become increasingly complex, contractors need access solutions that can operate within restricted areas throughout construction, fit-out and commissioning, said the company. “The two platforms are ideal for applications where conventional access equipment may be impractical, including plant rooms, service corridors, ceiling voids, and areas around fixed infrastructure. Their compact footprints let them pass through standard doorways and operate in restricted work areas,” added Star Platforms. 

The JLG Nano 30CS provides a working height of 4.95m and a safe working load of 200kg, while the Power Tower CS has a working height of 5m and load capacity of 250kg. Both are electric push around platforms developed for indoor use.

The machines feature compact 550mm × 550mm baskets, built-in tool-tethering solutions and anti-climb guardrails. Their narrow design allows operators to work safely within ceiling tile frames and access services above suspended ceilings.

In this respect, both the Power Tower CS and the Nano 30CS can raise an operator to waist height through a ceiling tile opening for installing and maintaining cabling, containment and other overhead infrastructure. Both models also feature lift-to-open gates for added safety and automatic locking wheels when raised for added stability.

Full project support 

The investment strengthens Star Platforms’ ability to support contractors from early project planning through to construction, fit-out, commissioning and facility maintenance upon project completion, combining specialist equipment with practical training and ongoing site support.

Beyond its investment in specialist equipment, Star Platforms works closely with data centre contractors to promote safer, more efficient working practices. Its Data Centre Division provides project-specific guidance, equipment demonstrations, toolbox talks and IPAF MEWP Spotter training to help site teams select and operate access equipment effectively.
