Smopyc delayed again, to November 2021

By Murray Pollok23 December 2020

The dates for Spanish construction exhibition Smopyc have shifted again to 17-20 November, 2021. The event was originally scheduled for 1 to 4 April 2020 before being changed to 23 to 26 September, 2020 and then delayed again to 26-29 May 2021.

A statement from organiser Feria de Zaragoza said the change was due to the uncertainties surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic and the likelihood that these would presist in the first months of 2021.

“With this decision, the exhibition organiser is responding to concerns about the path of the health crisis and how this could affect the event”, said Feria de Zaragoza, ”Thus, with the support of the exhibiting companies and professionals who remain committed to the event, the show management has chosen to move the dates to the last quarter of next year.

”This will give visibility to a sector that is so important to the economy and which will be crucial in the reactivation and regeneration of the economy.

“SMOPYC 2021 will be, once again, a launch pad for the sector. The pavilions of Feria de Zaragoza will become a showcase of new products and innovations that are typical of a sector that is based on technology and differentiation.”

The organisers acknowledged the support and understanding shown by participating companies, associations and industry bodies in coming to the decision.

The news comes just a week after it was announced that Intermat, scheduled for April 2021, has been cancelled until 2024.
