Skyjack signs up with SmartEquip

Skyjack is joining the electronic parts management system SmartEquip Network. The system will provides direct online links to Skyjack's parts and procurement systems for rental companies and other fleet owners.

Rental companies in North America who use SmartEquip's e-FleetPro system will be able to access Skyjack parts and service support information by the third quarter of this year.

Chuck Berls, director of customer support at Skyjack, said joining SmartEquip would improve transaction efficiencies for its customers; "By joining the SmartEquip Network, we are extending our electronic product support capabilities, and our parts ordering efficiencies, directly into the operating platforms of our customers, delivering real savings and improving equipment uptime."

SmartEquip chief executive officer and founder, Alexander Schuessler, said; "Skyjack's broad fleet presence across this market shows the potential for tremendous savings for the industry. We very much welcome the partnership opportunity to support this significant new equipment footprint."

A number of the largest US rental companies are already using SmartEquip's e-commerce system, as are a large number of equipment manufacturers. Current rental members include United Rentals, Sunbelt Rentals, Volvo Rents and Sunstate Equipment. RSC is also understood to have signed up.

SmartEquip is intent in developing its network internationally, but for the time being its rental members are all based in North America, as are the vast majority of its manufacturer members.
