Netherlands-based sales company Rental Service Europe (RSE) has added a US-built solar/battery powered LED lighting tower to its product range and showed the unit at the Intermat show.

Pieter Jansen, a partner at RSE, said the 390 W tower would be more expensive to buy than a traditional light - costing around €15000 - but would save customers €500 a month on fuel costs.

The tower, built by Colorado, US-based company Wanco, uses a bank of solar panels to charge batteries during the day, with the batteries then operating the tower during the hours of darkness. The tower will require some form of supplementary power for use in Northern Europe, said Mr Jansen.

RSE also showed at Intermat its new 1000 litre, hot water bowser washer. The unit, which is "competitively priced" at around €25000, includes a 35 m long hose reel and total transport weight is around 1500 kg.

Mr Jansen said French scaffolding and concrete mixer company Altrad has been granted sales rights in France, and Altrad had the unit on its stand at the show.

RSE is also selling a range of portable pressure washers and vacuum air cleaners to remove dust from the air. The portable Produster range - with air handling capacities of up to 28800 m3/hr - is produced by Dustco of the Netherlands, with RSE selling to the rental sector.
