Rotair increases impact of breaker for mini excavators

Replacing the older OLS 50 model, the new OLS 70 compact breaker has been developed for mini excavators operating in restricted areas and tight spaces, such as in urban demolition and other challenging environments.

The OLS 70 has an overall height of 955 mm including the mounting bracket, with an operating weight of 74 kg – up from the 60 kg of the OLS 50. There is also a 68 kg plate version.

Equipped with a 36 mm tool, it is suited to applications such as the demolition of pavements, concrete slabs or pedestrian walkways, according to Rotair, which operates as a subsidiary of ELGi Equipments Limited.

Rotair said its operational tests have confirmed that the OLS 70 breaker is best paired with excavators weighing between 0.8 and 1.5 tonnes.

According to Gianluca Bruno, Regional Manager for Italy, the weight-to-power ratio delivers “efficient, stable and versatile operation across a wide variety of applications”.

The internal architecture has two moving parts: the distribution valve, directing hydraulic oil to the control chambers, and the striking mass, transferring impact energy to the tool. The working cycle supports an operating range of 16 to 28 l/min and delivers an impact energy of 120 to 200 joules.

A high-pressure accumulator equipped with a membrane absorbs the rebound of the striking mass and reuses this energy for the next blow. This membrane also helps to retain the nitrogen charge for longer periods.
