Construction equipment rental company and distributor Mtandt has used the bC India exhibition to introduce a range of materials handling equipment to the Indian market. Its stand at the show features a Magni telescopic handler, Unic straight-boom crane and PM knuckle-boom crane.

The company, which has historically focussed on the access sector, feels there is potential for more sophisticated lifting and materials handling equipment in India, a country where domestically manufactured pick & carry cranes have traditionally dominated the lighter end of the lifting and handling sector.

Mtandt managing director, Rakesh Modi said, “It’s still a concept in India at the moment, especially the rotating and high capacity telehandlers. Everyone wants to see it and feel it before making a decision, and that’s why we are showing the machines at this exhibition.”

He continued, “People are looking for safety more and more, plus labour costs are not as low as they once were, so there is a move towards mechanisation.”

He added that Mtandt expected steep revenue growth with the expansion into this new sector and the anticipated recovery of the Indian construction market.
