Manitou signs up with supply chain ratings agency

15 September 2022

Manitou has signed an agreement with sustainability ratings EcoVadis to rate the sustainability of its supply chain partners.

Estoque de máquinas Manitou Manitou will use Ecovadis to implement improved CSR performance assessment and monitoring of its suppliers.

Manitou said EcoVadis’s questionnaire-based assessments would help it improve corporate social responsibility (CSR) assessments and monitoring of its suppliers.

Paris-based EcoVadis helps companies manage supply chains and comply with sustainability and CSR goals. It has rated more than 90,000 suppliers worldwide.

Manitou will initially select priority suppliers to be assessed and will send out the first EcoVadis questionnaires by the end of 2022.

Maurizio Achilli, VP Sourcing Manitou Group, said the move would allow the group to “optimise the CSR governance of our suppliers, while supporting them in improving their CSR performance. It will also enable us to strengthen risk management in purchasing.”

Manitou chose EcoVadis for its ability to cover the geographical areas of its suppliers, Aude Brézac, CSR VP for Manitou Group, said.

“EcoVadis’ assessment methods based on international standards and the completeness of the regularly updated CSR criteria have confirmed our choice. This collaboration will enable us to know our suppliers better and to anticipate future international regulations, whether they concern human rights, compliance, ethics or the environment.”

In early 2022 it announced carbon reduction goals for 2030, which included pledging to reduce the carbon emissions of its worldwide operations by 46% and the CO2 emissions of its construction equipment by 34% (for every hour of use) by 2030.
