Manitou Group unveiled the MHT 1490 telehandler at ConExpo this week. The high-capacity telehandler is geared toward the North American oil, gas and bridge sectors and features a lifting height of 46 feet and a 20,000-pound lifting capacity.

The MHT 1490 is a part of a series of high-capacity models, including 26,455 pounds, 40,000 pounds and 50,000 pounds.

The new line of telehandlers features 176 hp Mercedes Tier 4 Final engines and the units are equipped with exhaust gas recycling valves and selective catalytic reduction.

The MHT 1490 also has a hydrostatic transmission coupled to the gearbox for driving at speeds up to 25 mph.

Automatic rear axle locking provides better lateral stability, Manitou said, allowing the MHT to be designed and built for such high capacities.

The heavier capacity models will debut in June 2014.
