Loxam partners on Notre-Dame rebuild

France-based rental company Loxam is to continue its partnership with the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris by providing a range of on-site modular buildings.

Comprising of 39 modular units, the buildings will provide religious and secular staff of the diocese accommodation while exterior works continue following the reopening of the building.

The units, with a total area of 550 m², are expected to be be available until early 2029 to facilitate the resumption of religious activities following the Cathedral’s reopening.

Loxam said the support for the restoration of Notre-Dame aligns is its “sponsorship policy, which is deeply committed to the preservation of architectural heritage.”

Having been partially destroyed in a fire in 2019, the site recently reopened for the first time in five years. In that time, Loxam has been heavily involved in the restoration project.

The company facilitated operations to store and analyse the Cathedral’s remains in2021. Meanwhile, in 2022 it built and provided the first on-site facility within the construction area.

Composed of two modular structures with 25 and 65 units respectively, spread over 4 and 5 floors, the facility accommodates the teams from the public institution responsible for the conservation and restoration of the monument, along with various functional spaces covering a total area of 1,350 m². This facility will partially remain in place until early 2029 to support the continuation of the restoration project, Loxam said.
