01 December 2015

Data from German rental association the Bundesverbandes der Baumaschinen-, Baugeräte- und Industriemaschinen (BBI) has revealed little momentum in the market during the third quarter, and the expectation of slow growth to continue.

In terms of rental companies, 55% of respondents to the BBI’s quarterly market survey said revenues were stable year-on-year in the third quarter, while 20% reported declining sales and 25% pointed to increases.

In terms of dealerships, the BBI said 45% of respondents to its quarterly market survey said revenues were the same year-on-year for the third quarter, with around 30% of respondents reporting revenue declines and the remaining 25% reporting an increase in their revenues for the survey period.

When asked about their expectations for the final quarter of the year, both the dealers and the rental companies said they expected to see little development in revenues.

According to the BBI’s survey, 65% of dealer respondents and 60% of rental company respondents said they expected revenues to remain the same, while 10% of dealers and 15% of rental companies reported expecting fourth quarter increases, and 25% of respondents from both categories expected a year-on-year decline.

The BBI serves around 250 members in Germany, representing over 70% of the market.
