Lemminkäinen and Cramo extend outsourcing cooperation

20 December 2010

Lemminkäinen, a €2 billion Finnish construction company, has signed an agreement to transfer four of its depots to rental company Cramo.

Cramo will run the four locations and acquire the construction equipment, tower cranes and portable accommodation at the depots. Lemminkäinen employees at the four sites will be offered employment by Cramo.

The four depots are in Helsinki, Oulu, Vaasa and Kokkola. The value of the contract has not been announced. The two companies have a long-standing relationship. Previously, Lemminkäinen outsourced its depots in Joensuu, Kuopio, Turku and Tampere to Cramo.

"Outsourcing of the depots is a means of strengthening and developing our site operations," said Mr Jukka Terhonen, Lemminkäinen's executive vice president, Building Construction.

"By outsourcing these services, we will be able to better ensure the availability of the most suitable equipment, tools and methods for each construction need and, consequently, be even more reliable partner to our customers. The arrangement will also release our capital for use in our core business."

Lemminkäinen Group operates in building construction, infrastructure construction, building services and building products. Its net sales in 2009 were around € 2.0 billion, of which international operations accounted for over a quarter.
