Konecranes acquires Peinemann subsidiaries

The order from Georgia Ports Authority is Konecranes’ largest-ever for RTGs.

Industrial and port crane manufacturing group Konecranes has closed its acquisition of Rotterdam-based Peinemann Port Services BV and Peinemann Container Handling BV. No financial details of the deal have been disclosed.

Konecranes announced its intentions to acquire the businesses, subsidiaries of Peinemann, back in October, and the deal has now received the required approval from the Dutch competition authority.

At the time of the announcement, Konecranes said it would add over €40 million in revenues, with some 100 employees expected to join the company.

Paolo Dazi, SVP Port Services, Konecranes, said, “The acquisition of Peinemann’s Port Services and Container Handling businesses will expand our footprint and increase our service presence in Europe’s largest port, where we already have strong customer relationships and a significant fleet of both automated and manual equipment.”

Andreas Falk, SVP Lift Trucks, Konecranes, added, “This agreement gives us the chance to further expand our services and equipment offering in the Netherlands and, with the new sales channels the Peinemann businesses will bring, accelerate our plans to transition to battery-powered electric vehicles in a critical market.

Peinemann Container Handling BV has been a Konecranes Lift Trucks distributor in the Netherlands since 2009 and been in the sales, rental and service business of lift trucks in the Rotterdam area since 1954.

The planned acquisition will have no impact on Konecranes’ current Lift Trucks distributor model outside of the Netherlands.
