French rental company Kiloutou has given five young people the chance to train as maintenance technicians, leading to a twelve-month professional training course at the Institute Nicolas Barré d’Armentières.

The company offered its five students a three-month employment scheme, where they learnt on the job, and gained the relevant qualifications and experience in order to study at the college, which specialises in technical professions.

Kiloutou launched the scheme in 2013 and has since welcomed nearly 30 young people to its company. Its scheme offers over 720 hours of on-the-job training and about 1000 hours on-site under the guidance of a tutor. The students obtain a level 4 qualification, enabling them to study at the college.

Carine Vermeersch, head of Groupe Kiloutou, said, “Our qualifying school was born to compensate for the lack of technicians able to intervene on the many families of materials proposed in our agencies.

“At the same time, as an echo to our CSR policy, we offer young people quality training. When we look at the path taken by young people in the first class, it is both an investment, a responsibility and a pride for our group.”
