KHL publishes report into worldwide rental market

10 October 2013

KHL Group and International Rental News (IRN) have published a new report giving detailed analysis of the worldwide equipment rental market using historical data on the world’s top 100 rental companies

Rental Trends & Benchmarks Report provides a unique global overview of the industry by using eight years of data from the IRN100 survey published by IRN magazine. The top 100 companies together represent revenues of more than €30 billion, equivalent to around half of the worldwide rental market.

The 76-page report - the second KHL Executive Report, following the publishing of the World Crane Report last year - contains more than 55 graphs and charts and looks at how the rental market has changed, including the impact of the global financial crisis. It considers in detail the rental sectors in North America, Europe and Japan.

Included is analysis of trends in different sectors of the rental market, such as general rental companies, power companies, aerial platform specialists, accommodation rental and crane rental firms.

Historic IRN100 data also allows for comparisons between rental market growth and GDP and construction sector growth, providing analysts and rental companies with valuable insights into how the rental sector is linked to the wider economy.

The report – co-authored by Murray Pollok, editor of IRN, and Chris Sleight, editor of International Construction - presents benchmark figures for rental performance, including average revenues per employee, average revenues per location and average employees per location. These benchmarks have been calculated regionally and for each of five different rental sectors.

Mr Pollok said; “Tracking changes in the world's top 100 rental companies provides a real insight into global trends. For example, the growth of rental in new markets - such as South America and sectors such as power and aerial platforms - is very clear.

“The data has also allowed us to calculate benchmark data for rental company productivity – by region and by sector - giving the rental industry some extremely valuable 'target' figures.”

The report is priced at €1000/£850/$1350, with different pricing options also available, and can be ordered from KHL’s website: www.khl-infostore.com/executive-reports-rental/rental-trends-benchmarks-report
