Ex-CTE UK salesman Jonathan Wiseman has joined SUP Elefant UK Ltd as business development director and will spearhead the Italian manufacturer CMC's sales efforts in the UK and Ireland.

SUP Elefant UK was originally founded by Tony Thornton of Thornton Tree Services to market the CMC truck mounted and crawler mounted/atrium lifts in the UK and Ireland, but Mr Wiseman's arrival at the business - as a shareholder - signals the real start of the company's sales efforts.

Mr Wiseman said he would focus initially on sales of the CMC crawler machines - in the 15 m to 24 m range and with a 32 m model in planning - but would also be pushing the truck mounts. These include a new Land Rover-based 15 m working height model, to be launched later this year, and the 26 m working height, 3.5 t GVW machine that was launched at APEX.

"To start with the focus will be on the crawler machines", said Mr Wiseman, "the potential in that market is still very good - there are so many applications. Truck mounts are also an important area, and CMC is very strong there. It's a good, well-engineered product, so we will slowly be pushing these machines too.

"The Land Rover model should be a cracking machine - in terms of outreach [8 m] it will be exceptional for a Land Rover unit", he said.

The new 26 m TB 260 - mounted on a Nissan Cabstar at APEX - has a maximum outreach of 13.5 m and a 200 kg cage capacity, and will be available later this year. The TB 260 will be the largest 3.5 t model produced by CMC.

The company's existing 24 m unit on a 3.5 t truck will still be available, giving customers a lower priced option. CMC's truck mounts go up to 39 m working height, on larger trucks.
