JCB to create 450 new jobs

JCB is to recruit 450 agency employees and offer hundreds of permanent contracts to its existing agency staff, as equipment and construction markets rebound from the Coronavirus pandemic.

The UK-based manufacturer said it would create the new factory floor posts at its Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Wrexham factories in the UK.

The company will also offer permanent contracts to some of its existing agency workers. Around 400 assemblers, welders, fabricators and CNC machinists will be offered the permanent contracts, provided they have at least a year of experience.

Mark Turner, JCB Chief Operating Officer, said, “The rebound following the Covid-19 pandemic continues to gather pace and even in the space of a month since we started recruiting, we now need a further 450 shop floor employees.”

This latest announcement comes just six weeks after the manufacturer announced it was giving permanent contracts to over 300 of its agency employees and recruiting an additional 400 agency employees. According to JCB, industry forecasts indicate a “solid recovery and strong demand” in both mainland Europe and North America.

Turner said, “The creation of a total of 850 jobs this year is very good news for our business and for the areas where we operate. It’s also great news that this year we will give permanent JCB contracts to more than 700 agency employees, starting this month.”
