Jalo&Jalo orders updated Bronto giant

Nordic rental company Jalo&Jalo has added a new 104m working height S104HLA truck mount from Bronto Skylift, which has been upgraded to make worksite operations easier.

The Jalo&Jalo fleet consists of just over 60 aerial platforms, including four 90m Bronto S90HLA’s and now, with the latest addition, three S104HLA’s, making it a leading provider of large truck mounts in Nordic countries, where it says demand is on the rise.

“We are extremely busy at the moment. All our current aerials are deployed and we are recruiting 11 new operators. This S104HLA will help us in not only windfarms, but in facade and construction worksites as well,” said Sami Jalo, CEO of Jalo&Jalo.

The S104HLA is mounted on a class 8 Volvo 12x4 chassis, which allows compact configuration, making it easier to drive in worksite conditions, and in regular traffic. The cabin is in its original place on the truck, unlike older S104HLA units which required the cabin to be lowered in front of the front axle. Thus, making the front approach angle smaller.

The gross vehicle weight is 63.5 metric tonnes and more importantly, says the manufacturer, the axle weight does not exceed 12 tonnes. This is highly beneficial when operating in Sweden, as an escort vehicle is not required, explains Bronto, which again reduces the operational costs. It also opens the door to Norway, as the older S104HLA units were too heavy to drive on Norwegian roads.

“The new unit will be deployed immediately. It will start with a large construction worksite in Finland and then take off to Sweden to continue serving our customer base there through our local branch, Svenska Höjdliftare,” Jalo added.

With two telescopic booms, a 6-section main boom and a 3-section cage boom, the S104HLA provides a working outreach of 33m and working height of 104m. Jalo&Jalo chose an extendable working cage with a 600kg safe working load and maximum width of 3.7m. Other optionals include hydraulic and water outlets in the cage, material winch, generator and an emergency back-up system.
