Intermat award honours

The achievements of a wide range of construction companies have been recognised at the Intermat Innovation Awards in Paris.

Judged by an international panel of 11 industry experts, the event showcased developments in the equipment, earthmoving, demolition and civil engineering sectors.

The construction equipment gold accolade went to Wacker Neuson for its dual power 803 excavator.

According to the judges, the machine’s flexibility in switching between diesel and electric mode had been at the core of its success. It was given particular praise for its emissions-free capabilities when operating in indoor environments under electric power.

Runners up were Alphi for its TopDalle eco formwork for reinforced concrete slabs, and Fayat for the company’s new generation low-cost continuous asphalt plant.

The equipment and component gold award went to Liebherr France, recognising safety features of its crane operator lift. Its key features included a space-saving design within tower sections.

French-based firm Mecalac gained a silver award for its quick coupler m-connect for construction machinery.

Merlo claimed the gold accolade for engineering and systems with its transversal stability system, which has been designed to help prevent equipment from overturning.

The silver award went to Liebherr France for its LDC demolition control system allowing machine operators greater precision over their attachments.

Claiming the final gold award in the digital applications category, Atlog was praised for its Land2map 3-D design software aimed at improving topographical surveys for construction jobsites. The silver award went to Automelec, for its Tamisoft advanced aggregates measurement system.

Three further special awards were given by the judges, including an environmental honour received by MS for its advanced water treatment system.

Tekla also received an accolade for its 3-D BIM (building information modelling) products, while UK-firm Bridgend Extrusion gained an award for its plastic-based K-form formwork.
