HSS and Selco announce partnership

HSS Hire has entered into an agreement with UK builders merchant Selco Builders Warehouse to open satelite branches across the UK.

The partnership, which was announced in December, has already seen the company open four satellite operations in Selco branches.

The first satelite HSS desks to open are located in Selco’s Slough and Milton Keynes branches respectively, with two more added in Tottenham and Ashton-under-Lyne branches before the close of 2023.

Selco, which has more than 70 locations in England and Wales, said it expects a “significant expansion” of the agreement throughout  2024.

Selco, which is focused on professional customers, has a history going back to 1895 in Birmingham, where it began as a timber mill. It became a builders merchants in 1938 and began its expansion out of the Midlands in 1990. It made its first move into London in 2002 and now has more than 25 locations in the Greater London area.

It was acquired by current owner Grafton Group plc in 1998. Grafton operates building merchant businesses in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands (Polvo for tools, locks and PPE equipment) and Finland (IKH for workwear and PPE).
