German rental company HKL Baumaschinen is trialling a new power rental division at its existing rental facility in Hamburg.
Speaking to IRN at Bauma, HKL’s marketing manager Ulf Böge told IRN that the power ‘centre of excellence’ at Hamburg would stock a range of Atlas Copco gensets up to 275 kVA.
Other power centres are planned, with Dortmund likely to be the next location, later this year.
The power initiative is part of HKL’s strategy as it refocuses its energy in its three main markets of Germany, Austria and Poland. The company closed its Spanish rental operation earlier this year, with the last depot, in Barcelona, closing. At its peak HKL had eight locations in Spain.
Mr Böge said HKL still had plenty of opportunities to expand its German activities, with three additional locations planned this year and further investment in its ‘tool hire’ Mietshops. There are currently Mietshops at around 100 of HKL’s 130 branches in Germany.
He said demand in Germany remained “good”, with revenues likely to be similar or a little higher than last year.
