HKL supports expansion of rail line

03 October 2014

German rental company HKL has supplied equipment including telescopic handlers, loaders, excavators, power generators and compactors to support a rail construction project in Thuringia.

HKL said the equipment was supplied from its depot in the centre of Jena Laasdorf to contractor Jaeger Environment & Transport, which laid new tracks from Jena to Stadtroda.

The rail link between Weimar and Gera is being expanded to double-track line, and also equipped with tilting technology. A total of 30 km of track, six points and eleven railroad overpasses are to be built. Work began in mid-February 2014 and to be completed in December 2016.

Heribert Köhler, manager at HKL Jena Laasdorf, said, "We are very proud to support one of the largest railway construction projects in the region. Our powerful machines can be used flexibly to complete the work. Due to its proximity to the site, we can also guarantee fast delivery and provide for a smooth construction process.”
