HKL machines help transform stadium

Hamburg Stadium Am Rothenbaum in Germany was turned into beach volleyball arena with the help of rental equipment from HKL.

The stadium normally hosts tennis and hockey matches, but landscaping contractor Erwin Schultz was drafted in to convert the courts into volleyball pitches, including importing sand using wheeled loaders and backhoe loaders rented from HKL.

The professionals at Erwin Schultz had only two days to transport more than 2000 tonnes of sand. On the sensitive surface of the indoor rinks, only machines under 8 tonnes operating weight could be used. Larger equipment such as 12 tonne wheeled loaders and 14 tonne excavators transported the sand to the edge of the rink, where a 2.1m³ bucket capacity loader took over. HKL said men and machines worked almost around the clock to get the job done on time.
