HKL goes the distance with Nordex

25 March 2015

German rental company HKL has helped energy supplier Nordex to successfully complete a wind farm in the Hesse region of the country.

The project, awarded in 2012, involved erecting five 140 metre high wind turbines at a cost of around €25 million. The work itself began at the site in November 2014.

Several items from the HKL range of equipment were used during construction, including telescopic machines featuring a powerful engine with low fuel consumption.

In addition, the HKL machines were responsible for transporting all the material used on-site, sometimes covering 10 miles a day in the process.

These materials included heavy planks that had to be moved into position to stabilise an 800 tonne crawler crane.

Other equipment that featured during the installation included power generators, heaters, a tank system, a hydraulic cable car and containers.

Customer advisor Marcel Bartsch said: “This project needed machines that could travel long distances easily and have a high load capacity.

“With the telescopic machines, we have found the ideal solution for our customers.”
