Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) (HCME) shipped the 50000th mini excavator from its assembly location in Oosterhout, The Netherlands in September. The ZX17U-2 model was delivered to Swiss rental firm BauRent AG Ost.

HCME began assembling mini excavators in Oosterhout in 1988. The 50000th model to roll off the production line will join BauRent AG Ost’s extensive Hitachi rental fleet, based in Effretikon.

BauRent AG Ost operates across Switzerland and has two other locations in St Gallen and Osogna. Its rental fleet includes 150 Hitachi machines, ranging from the ZX10U-2 to the ZX225USRLC-3, with the ZX17U-2 one of the most popular models.

The machine was supplied by Probst Maveg AG, the official Hitachi dealer in Switzerland.

Haspeter Jaiser, managing director of BauRent AG Ost, said the company had been buying Hitachi machines since 2003 and added that they were ideal for the rental market.

Joep van den Maagdenberg, HCME assistant manager for mini excavators sales & support, said; "We are extremely proud to see the 50,000th model roll off the production line”.
