Hitachi announces price rise for construction equipment

Tokyo-headquartered Hitachi Construction Machinery has announced it will be raising the prices of its equipment by 8% from April this year.

The company said the decision was based on the impact of the rising cost of energy and materials – the latter due in part to global supply chain issues.

In a statement, Hitachi CM’s president and executive officer, Kotaro Hirano, said the company will “sequentially increase selling prices of all construction machinery products for the global market.”

A price increase of 8% for all construction and mining machinery for 2023, follows the implementation of a price revision for 2022.

Hitachi said it had been making efforts in cost reduction activities to avoid such action, but had concluded that “the impact of further cost increases in the global market, is beyond the scope of corporate efforts to address”.
