Spain-headquartered manufacturer Himoinsa has celebrated ten years of operation in the Middle East, where it has recently opened new UAE facilities and also forecast continued market growth.

The company said that over the last decade, its Middle Eastern subsidiary had seen steadily increasing sales volumes with about 4000 generator sets and lighting towers delivered to distributors and rental companies in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Himoinsa said it expected the business to report stable revenues year-on-year in 2014, adding that the Middle East accounted for 10% of group’s total sales last year.

Sales and marketing director Guillermo Elum said, “We are continuing to grow our presence in this market. We have won the trust of major companies in the Middle East, which choose us for our quality products and service.”

Major Projects

In the coming weeks, for instance, the manufacturer said it would deliver seven of the 36 generator sets purchased by Railways Infrastructure Instalaciones y Serviciosto supply power along several stretches of the 444 km Mecca to Medina high-speed rail construction project in Saudi Arabia.

Himoinsa added that it counted contractors such as Famco and Gulf Equipment, and rental companies such as PEAX among its customers in the Middle East.

“We are prepared to work in the extreme conditions of the Middle East, being able to withstand the daytime temperatures of 50ºC is essential”, said Keith Webb, general manager of Himoinsa Middle East.

“Equipment for desert areas demands special attention. Apart from the heat, other factors such as humidity can cause problems if not given due consideration; while dust is also a factor that can clog filters and accumulate in the mechanisms and affect performance.”

The manufacturer’s generator sets for desert climates were designed with tropicalised radiators with double varnish and anti-condensation heaters. The alternator air filters are specially treated to prevent dust from entering and to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
