Himoinsa, a power technology solutions provider and part of the Yanmar Group, announced it has obtained the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the HGY Series generators following a lifecycle assessment (LCA) of the product.

An EPD is a Type III environmental declaration, in accordance with ISO 14025, which transparently communicates a product’s environmental performance throughout its life cycle. It is based on a LCA and presents quantified indicators under defined calculation rules, providing objective data on the product’s impact.

The EPD document provides detailed information on the generator’s environmental impact across all life cycle stages, from component manufacturing, inbound transport, assembly, testing, distribution, the use phase and final disposal. It also incorporates specific operating scenarios, such as 4,000 hours per year over 15 years, parameters specific to the generator set.

The publication of the EPD allows the environmental variable to be incorporated into the technical documentation, providing customers and engineering firms with structured data to evaluate the product from a more comprehensive perspective, particularly in high-power projects where reliability, performance and environmental criteria form part of the decision-making process.

The analysis also models key components such as the engine, alternator, radiator and battery; considers supplier transport data; and includes manufacturing waste, maintenance scenarios and end-of-life criteria for materials such as steel, copper, aluminum and plastics.

With the EPD, Himoinsa said it is advancing the environmental traceability of its Power Solutions, providing the market with measurable and useful information on the impact of its equipment throughout its lifecycle.
