Roy Haverkotte and his father Harry have returned to the equipment sales and rental business with a new company, Prima Equipment, following the closure of the Emeco heavy equipment rental business in Europe earlier this year.

The Haverkotte's sold their business, Euro Machinery, to Emeco Equipment in 2007 and both were working for Emeco until the Australian company decided to close the European operation as part of a worldwide restructuring.

Roy Haverkotte told IRN that Prima Equipment will be a used equipment dealer that will rent its stock of machines; "We want to be clear to our customers that everything we rent we can sell to them. Our main focus is trading, a little different from Emeco."

Mr Haverkotte will also have a parts trading business; "We plan to take old machines apart and stock components that are interesting, such as engines, pumps, undercarriages and cabins."

The company has a stock of around 50 machines at present - comprising 18 to 35 t excavators, dozers and wheeled loaders - but Mr Haverkotte said he wants to widen the equipment range to items such as, attachments, forklifts and aerial platforms. "We used to be full-line with Euro machinery, so that's what we want."

The company is based in Gramsbergen, The Netherlands, and Roy's father, Harry, is a director of Prima Equipment and will be working full-time for this first year of operation. Roy's brother-in-law, Erik Brand, is also a director and will be focused on maintenance, servicing and attachments.
