GT Lifting takes world’s first 40m Manitou rotator

UK lifting specialist GT Lifting has taken delivery of the world’s first Manitou MRT 4080, the largest rotating telehandler produced by the manufacturer, and has secured the first 10 machines for the UK market.

The new MRT 4080 introduces a 40m lift height class to Manitou’s Roto range, combining an 8,000kg maximum capacity with a maximum working radius of 27m. It can lift up to 2,500kg at maximum height, offering increased capacity for demanding construction and infrastructure applications.

GT Lifting said the machine forms part of its strategy of continually developing its fleet around customer requirements.

“We are continually learning and evolving our fleet based on what delivers the best results for our customers and their unique lifting requirements,” the company said. “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do, driving us to continuously expand what we can offer.”

The MRT 4080 also features an intelligent stop-and-start system, which shuts down the engine and hour meter during periods of idling, helping reduce fuel consumption and operating costs.

GT Lifting has also invested in a range of attachments for the new machine, including an 8-tonne winch, 3-tonne fly jib winch and a 9-tonne crane hook. The latter has been specifically  for the 4080 and is supported by a dedicated load chart, allowing loads of up to 9 tonnes to be lifted under specified conditions.

Managing director Joseph Rodgers said: “We are very proud to have been the first to introduce the 26m, followed by the 30m, 35m, 39m, and now the landmark 40m Manitou MRT 4080.”
