Greener Power invests €12m in battery packs

Amsterdam-based battery power company Greener Power Solutions is boosting its rental fleet with a €12 million investment in new portable battery packs.

The company, which currently has a fleet of around 185 battery packs available in the Netherlands, UK, Spain, France and Sweden, said the added capacity will accelerate its growth and help reduce grid congestion problems which are hindering new projects in housing and other construction sites in Europe.

It said the deployment of batteries meant that developers become less dependent on the grid and diesel generators, with the new sets offering the potential to save around 6,322 tonnes of CO₂ each year.

Jasper van den Driest, who joined the company as CEO in September, said adopting temporary power with mobile batteries meant that municipalities, contractors and housing associations could deliver homes faster; “This is how we speed up construction and reduce emissions.”

He added; “Although batteries are cost-efficient and reliable, adoption remains slow because developers have relied on fossil fuels for decades. The government can play a key role in raising awareness and supporting businesses – not just in construction, but across all sectors – to make the energy transition possible together.”

The new battery packs will be the fourth generation developed and supplied by Dutch manufacturer Alfen. Each unit now has a capacity of up to 720kWh per container - it was previously 422kWh - with an integrated converter, and models start at 360 kWh. The new packs will use the same 10ft format container as previous versions.
