Generac branches out into pumps

22 April 2015

The former Tower Light business has returned to the pump industry for the first time in three years with the launch of the DWP6 high volume dry vacuum product.

Generac Tower Light's initial market introduction covers four- and six-inch models, with the eight, 10 and 12-inch versions to follow.

Managing director Paul Hay said: "There has been a lull in the past three years where we have focused mainly on lighting towers.

"During that time we've learned a lot from other product areas that we can apply to pumps, about things like cooling, airflow, and making the product as compact as it can be.

"Noise is also an issue on every product, which is why the variable speed option is so important.

The company said that benefits of the pump include high performance, low noise, large solids handling capacity and a long-running fuel tank. It is also possible to regulate the pump's flow in line with customer needs.

While the DWP6 is being marketed as primarily for dewatering, Mr Hay said: "There is a lot of durability in the product and it will work anywhere there is a pumping application.

"There will be a big market for it in places like the Netherlands, for obvious reasons."

Acquired by Generac Mobile Products in 2013, the company is currently trading as Generac Towerlight as it continues its transition under the ownership of the US company.
