Indian aerial platform manufacturer and distributor Gemini is taking its first steps presented an aerial lift for the first time outside its home market.

The manufacturer was showing its 14m working height Levo 14 on Axolift’s stand at the GIS show in Piacenza last week. Gemini’s smaller Levo 11 is also now available in the European market.

Low level access specialist Axolift announced earlier this year that Gemini had become its distributor in India.

According company director Aahan Sethi the units have both received CE marking and have been produced with SSAB Strenx steel.

The 14m unit was mounted on a 2.2 tonne Leyland in India and shipped over for the purpose of the show and Gemini, which says it has sold 220 Levi units in India so far, is looking for potential partnerships in Europe with OEMs or specialists in field to mount the lifts onto local chassis.

There is also a new 24m working height model in the range, which is not yet available in Europe.

European plans

“We are looking to establish the product in the market. But we already have a great deal of experience in India where we have adapted it to a market that is very new to this type of equipment.

“Therefore we have a full understanding of what operators need and these requirements are built into our equipment.”

What started as a small workshop has now developed into a 40,000 square feet factory, run by a team of experts in the fields of design, production and procurement - 100% of Levo products are designed and manufactured in India, with an emphasis on compact and lightweight, with high tensile steel and low emissions.

Gemini’s first goal in Europe is to set up service provision in the continent and is now looking for experienced personnel in this area.
