GAP triumphs at business awards ceremony

05 October 2015

GAP Hire Solutions, which rents equipment to the construction, utilities and maintenance industries, has excelled at this year’s Glasgow Business Awards, scooping three awards during the dinner held at the Hilton Glasgow.

The company took home the Excellence in People Development and Best Performing Business (51 employees or over) awards at the ceremony which celebrates the best in the Scottish city’s business community.

At the end of the evening, GAP then added the Most Outstanding Business Award to complete itshat-trick. This award is presented to the business recognised as best in class across all categories.

GAP is headquartered in Glasgow, where it employs 160 people. It has over 120 operational locations throughout the UK, with staff numbers totalling 1400 nationally.

Joint managing director Iain Anderson said: “To come away with three awards from the Glasgow Business Awards is simply the best outcome we could have hoped for, especially as we were up against some of the most successful businesses in Glasgow.

“These awards are testament to our commitment to our people, products and processes which have seen us grow massively in recent years. The future looks bright as we continue on with ambitious plans to expand the business further.’”

The awards follow strong growth for the company recently.

Traditionally known as a plant and tool hirer, GAP has grown to eight divisions, each specialising in their own areas, to offer their customers a complete solution to hiring equipment.

GAP has reported a 21% rise in profit to £143 million (€194 million) this year, with staff numbers growing by 21% in the same period.
