EquipmentShare invests big in gas power

EquipmentShare has announced a multi-year agreement with Cummins that will see it expand its power rental fleet to 1GW of natural gas power generation capacity.

The rental business said the power fleet would help it support major energy projects across the US with temporary power, microgrids and battery energy storage solutions.

The investment will include Cummins’ C1400N6C generator, a 60Hz gas set that can deliver between 1400 and 1750kVA of power.

EquipmentShare said its gas-led strategy would deliver a cleaner alternative to traditional diesel powered gensets and could reduce total energy costs for contractors by between 50% and 80%.

The generators will use existing gas pipeline infrastructure where available or “virtual pipelines” – gas transported by road or rail - for off-grid sites.
