Epiroc introduces smart maintenance on hydraulic breaker

The Swedish manufacturer also said it has engineered the EC 122 breaker to deliver improved handling and extended service life.

It is the second model update in this range following the introduction of the EC 102 breaker at Bauma last year.

Among the upgrades is the lower wear bush which now has a turnable insert, so operators can rotate the component to distribute wear evenly to extend longevity. This can be done without the need for special tools with quick field replacement to minimise downtime.

Additionally, a replaceable piston liner improves repairability, ensuring cost-effective maintenance and longer operational life.

Furthermore, the updated EC 122 is 80 kg lighter than its predecessor, reducing overall carrier load and improving manoeuvrability. Its service weight is 1,120 kg and it is designed for carriers in the 15–24-tonne range.

The EC 122 also integrates hybrid technology with a nitrogen piston accumulator that delivers consistent impact energy and smooth operation.

Epiroc’s VibroSilenced Plus system further reduces noise and vibration by isolating the percussion mechanism and sealing all openings. This produces more comfortable working conditions and is better for urban or sensitive environments.

Equipped with an integrated control valve and EnergyRecovery system, the EC 122 optimises hydraulic efficiency while reducing vibrations. Active percussion chamber ventilation minimises internal wear, ensuring the breaker remains in peak condition for extended periods.
