Eliet launches battery version of shredder

Eliet, the Belgian manufacturer of groundcare equipment, has introduced a fixed battery version of its Prof 6 ‘On Wheels’ shredder. The Prof 6 epower uses the same platform and many of the same components as the petrol model.

The epower unit has a Vanguard Fi7.0 kWh battery pack from Briggs & Stratton and will power the shredder on a single charge continuously for 40–45 minutes or 90 minutes of real-world use over a full day. Under low-load or idle operating conditions, runtime can extend to up to four hours.

The petrol version uses a Vanguard 400 single-cylinder horizontal shaft engine, while a ‘Monster’ version of the same machine – for faster chipping – uses a 18hp Vanguard V-Twin engine.

The battery model is described as best suited for predictable daily operations in urban or environmentally sensitive environments, while the petrol-powered Prof 6 is ideal for more remote, high-intensity applications. 

‘Close derivative’ of petrol unit

The electric model has been developed as a “close derivative” of the petrol-powered machine, with the battery integrated through minimal modification to the core chassis and design.

Around 90% of components are shared between the two versions, including blades, belts and drive components. This aims to simplify maintenance, reduce parts inventories, and allow users to switch between power variants without retraining.

Eliet is also evaluating other power solutions for the Prof 6, including the use of the Vanguard Si1.5 swappable battery, giving users the option of rotating battery packs.
