Dromad Hire, an Irish rental company, is expanding its equipment fleet with orders for over 20 new machines from multiple manufacturers.

The County Louth-based company, which provides powered access and general construction equipment to customers across the country, has added units from Hinowa, Niftylift, Snorkel and Skyjack.

According to the company, 60% of its recent equipment orders comprise electric or hybrid models.

Ronan Cotter, General Manager of Dromad Hire, said, “This latest investment will enable us to expand the capability of our offering not only are these all-electric machines more efficient but they are environmentally friendly.

“Some key benefits of electric or hybrid machines include zero emissions, zero noise, & they are ideal for indoor use or in noise sensitive environments.”

Among the machines ordered by the company is the Hinowa Lightlift 15.70 Performance IIIs tracked spider lift.

Suitable for both indoor and outside use, the hybrid machine is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack, an electric motor and either a diesel or petrol engine.

While the 1.9-tonne Hinowa 15.70 provides a 15m working height, a 6.6m outreach and 230kg basket capacity, Dromad’s new 3.4-tonne Snorkel SL30RTE offers a working height of 11m, with a maximum platform capacity of 590kg.

The lithium battery powered articulated platform is suitable for use on all terrains and, like the other electric units ordered by Dromad, produces zero emissions and zero noise.

The Hinowa 15.70 and the Snorkel SL30RTE were both recently delivered to the company, which so far this year has invested around €3 million in new equipment.

Cotter said, “We will continue to invest in battery and electric technology across our core divisions, as we play our role in moving the industry towards a greener environment.”
