Doosan Portable Power wins huge order from A-Plant

Belgium-based Doosan Portable Power has won an order for portable compressors worth nearly €6 million from leading plant, tools and equipment rental company A-Plant.

The order comprises close to 500 Doosan compressors, including the first order in the UK for the new 7/73-10/53 ‘Dual Mode’ model.

A-Plant has ordered over 60 7/73-10/53 portable compressors as well as a further 24 of the larger 7/125-10/110 ‘Dual Mode’ model, alongside over 400 other units including 7/20 and 7/26EG single tool and 7/41 and 7/41G two tool compressors.

“This is one of the largest orders ever won by Doosan Portable Power and is the result of our close collaboration over many years with A-Plant,” said Steve Hallam, UK sales manager for Doosan Portable Power.

“The new compressors are the fruits of our ongoing investment in the research and development of the Doosan range of portable power products aimed at applications in plant and tool rental, construction and utilities.”

Andrew Winlow, director of purchasing and fleet management at A-Plant, said: “We bought a tranche of the new Doosan 7/125-10/110 compressors last year and have been impressed with the flexibility and cost savings they offer.

“In the new order we have added more of these compressors together with over 60 of the new 7/73-10/53 models to provide even more flexibility in the fleet.”

The ‘Dual Mode’ feature incorporated as standard on the 7/73-10/53 and 7/125-10/110 compressors offers a choice of dual pressure and flow outputs on both machines that can be selected simply by pushing a button on the keypad.

On the 7/73-10/53 model, the operator can switch between ‘LO’ (low pressure mode: rated pressure 6.9 bar/free air delivery 7.3 m³/min) and ‘HI’ (high pressure mode: rated pressure 10.3 bar/free air delivery 5.3 m³/min).

Similarly, the 7/125-10/110 model can be switched between the low pressure mode with rated pressure of 6.9 bar and a free air delivery of 12 m³/min and the high pressure mode where the rated pressure is 10.3 bar and the free air delivery is 10.6 m³/min.

Doosan said these portable compressors provide a ‘two-for-one’ solution which replaces the need to have two different sized models in the fleet as used to happen in the past and offers much greater operational flexibility from the same machine for both A-Plant and its customers.

Both the 7/73-10/53 and 7/125-10/110 compressors cover a range of applications, from standard pressure uses found in construction and utility markets to more specialist high pressure applications such as abrasive blasting, spray painting and optical fibre blowing.
